Open Employment
Your Employment Success (Y.E.S.) is an Open Employment service which is designed to assist people with a disability and the Deaf to seek, prepare for and gain employment in the broader community.

Business Services
SA Group Enterprises operate three successful business enterprises Inprint Design, SA Wire Ware and aspitech which offer working conditions equivalent to that found in Open Employment. Whilst at the same time offering on-the-job training and a supportive work environment for people who may require long-term support or where open employment may not yet offer the best option.

SA Group Enterprises employs a broad cross-section of the community not only human services professionals but also skilled industry personnel in our businesses who work with and alongside people with a disability. Please contact the Human Services Manager for information about vacancies.

How to apply

To apply for a position in one of our business services you will need to meet the following selection criteria :

If you meet all the selection criteria and are interested in applying for a position you will need to contact the Human Services Manager who will organise to meet with you and show you around the workplace.

During your visit you will be given some information on the service which will include an Application Form and some brochures. If you are interested you will need to complete the Application Form and return it to the Human Services Manager.

If there are no positions available at that time, your application will be placed on a waiting list until a suitable place becomes available. Confirmation of employment will be sent to you in writing and will include your starting date, days, hours, and who to report to. You will need to advise the Human Services Manager of your acceptance, or non acceptance of the training position as soon as possible.

Starting Work and Support

An Employment Assistance Plan (EAP) will be developed in conjunction with you within the first four weeks of employment. This will identify goals for the next twelve months and highlight any issues or areas of support.

A Support Plan may also be developed if required. This will address any support issues and will, in conjunction with you, set out strategies to assist you and staff to deal with specific situations.

After the initial Employment Assistance Plan there will an annual Employment Development Plan (EDP) meeting involving you, an advocate - a friend or family member if you wish, your Supervisor and the Human Services Manager. The achievements of the previous year will be discussed and new goals set for the coming year. This plan will be reviewed in six months by you and your Supervisor.

Wages
Your starting wage will be confirmed in your letter of offer and will be reviewed in line with the current award, or wage agreement. Wages will be paid in accordance with the requirement of the Industrial Commission and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) under Section 9.1 in the Quality Assurance System.

Transport
You will be responsible for organising and paying for your own transport to and from work. Your hours at work can be flexible and will be negotiated with you prior to starting work. These will be reviewed during the annual Employment Development Plan Meeting.

Inprint Design

Inprint Design is a graphic design studio operating from Bedford Park and offers employment careers in the graphic design industry. Inprint Design is also the publisher of Link Disability Magazine, a leading national disability issues magazine.

All this provides an excellent opportunity for suitable participants to access industry-specific training, learn relevant skills and build knowledge of the graphic design and IT industry. Training is provided by qualified, experienced staff in a professional and supportive environment.

Specific selection criteria for Inprint Design:

  • An interest in pursuing a career in a graphic design business.
  • The ability to operate a standard computer which may be adapted to suit individual needs, or use specialist computer accessing equipment.
  • A level of competence in reading and writing which would allow you to work independently within the industry.

SA Wire Ware

SA Wire Ware produce a range of quality wire and steel products including a display stands and storage systems including other fabrication and construction services. Situated at Melrose Park, it offers employment careers in manufacturing.

All this provides an excellent opportunity for participants to access training, learn relevant skills and build up knowledge of the manufacturing industry. Training is provided by experienced staff in a professional and supportive environment.


The types of work and training may include:

  • Drilling, cutting and machining
  • Spot and MIG welding
  • Metal work and tooling
  • General fabrication and process work

The business utilises modern manufacturing techniques including robotic wire bending machines and computerised planning systems and has modern tool room facilities for specialised workplace modification and tooling.


Specific selection criteria for SA Wire Ware:

  • You must be interested and motivated to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Choose to work at SA Wire Ware.
  • Have the ability to learn and work on production tasks.
  • Are able to work safely and wear earmuffs or other safety equipment if required.
  • Take instructions.

Aspitech

aspitech is a new business that is aspiring to offer a responsible way to buy new computers and manage how technology waste is processed to achieve a better environmental choice.

aspitech specialises in new computer sales designed for greater energy efficiency, ways to add new life to older computer and e-waste management strategies to help reduce our impact to the environment when customers surplus computers are no longer needed.

Enclave

An enclave is a supported employment model where a small group of people are employed by SA Group Enterprise to work on-site within another business or organisation as a contracted workforce unit. Personnel employed are supported by trained staff on-the-job and receive the same employment and support programs as they would working within one of SA Group Enterprises Business Services including wages and conditions, the only difference is that people are working within an enterprise in the community.

Currently SA Group Enterprise has an operational enclave working within the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS) in South Australia.
